Whelp, I did it. Despite being sick yesterday I did my Week 3, Workout 2 of the Girls Gotta Move 5k training program. I was not feeling so in-the-depths-of-dispair sick that I couldn’t workout. I mean, I just did not want to miss this workout. It was an important progressive one. It was one where instead of running for three walking for two I was running for four walking for two for 25 minutes. See, I could not miss this workout! 

Since I was sick and quite determined I took the proactive approach and used my noggin. When it came to running I just ran at a 4.5 pace and walked at a 3.4 pace. It was super easy and smooth sailing. Truth be told, it didnt feel like working out too much. I did not want to push it tho…being sick and all. Actually, truth be told, I felt pretty darn good after the workout.  ūüôā 

I did not wake up feeling that same greatness tho. I ended up waking up with the dreaded chest cough that the Poppa Bear and now Little Bear have as well. Rut Ruh Rorge!!!! That’s okay, today’s a scheduled rest day on the program and depending on how I feel, I might just skip out on the cross training day tomorrow (or do yoga instead!).  We’ll see how i’m feeling but until then…it’s lots of fluids, lots of vitamin C and lots of Dayquil and Nyquil.

And yes, despite my sickies the last few days, i’ve managed to eat exactly what was on the schedule. If I didnt, it was in the form of not being hungry and I just skipped that meal. O wait, scratch that..no, i had cereal for dinner last night. OK, so not too bad yesterday but it could have been a major derail. Glad it wasn’t.  Now please excuse me while I go and blow my nose……but before I go….

How do you handle your workouts when you get sick? Do you skip them? Take them down a notch?

>Hot, Sweaty, Stinky Mess

>Whew!! I just had thee most awesome, fabulous, hot, sweaty workout ever!!! I don’t know why but for some reason my Week 3, Workout 1 of my Girls Gotta Move 5k training program¬†was killer!! I was a hot, sweaty, stinky mess!! (and loved every minute of it). I even ran at a 5.4 pace. Granted, it’s not the 6.0 that I am used to from months ago but it’s not bad. I mean, im going for distance right now, not speed so….

Well, since we got the fitness portion out of the way, may as well conduct the eats of today. Now, I may not do this daily anymore folks. Tina¬†was talking about this last week and I completely agree. I menu plan, as most of you know, which helps me keep to the family’s grocery budget we set each week. By doing this, it saves us from spending frivelously. It also helps take the stress out of “what’s for dinner” as well as other things. This also means eatting¬†the same thing for Breakfast (M1), Mid-Morning Snack (M2), Lunch (M3) and Mid-Afternoon Snack (M4) with each Dinner (M5) being different daily. There really is no reason to bore you all with tears with the same day-in/day-out meals Mon-Fri. I’ll post them once in awhile¬†(probably just on Monday’s) but that’s about it. (Tho I must say im contemplating at least writing them down on the non-photo days for accountability so I dont¬†fall off the wagon)….anyway, that’s what i’ve¬†been thinking so dont be surprised if I don’t post it…it’s not because of being lazy, it’s because it’s just the same thing as the day¬†before and the day before that. HA!¬†

Here’s what went into my belly today

M1:¬† 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 1T¬†shredded cheddar cheese, 1/2C¬†Quick Oats, 2T¬†Chia Seeds, 1T¬†Ground Cinnamon, 2C¬†regular coffee, 2T¬†Great Value Chocolate Raspberry Coffee Creamer, 1 Small Banana == and yes, that’s a Christmas dessert plate. Someone forgot to pack those away with the rest of the holiday decor. oopsie!

M2:¬†Oiko’s Carmel Yogurt (it’s like a dessert!¬†i¬†love this stuff!), 1/2 red grapefruit

Yes, I bought all three new flavors. No, I have not tried them all yet. I just tried the Mint Chocolate Chip so far (bc i have a bit of an obsession with MCC ice cream) and OH.MY.GOSH! Tastes just like it. So good!!! Seriously, if you are watching calories and want something sweet just grab a stick of this stuff. It will rock.your.face! Im¬†going to test drive the Strawberry Shortcake tomorrow and the Key Lime on Wednesday. I’ll let ya know how they go but i’m sure that they will be equally as enjoying as the mint chocolate chip.

When I came home from work today, I found Little Bear rushing around her kitchen area, quickly putting something in her oven (to hide from Mommy). Man, if I could have caught the look and body movements/form that she was doing when I walked in the door. And as Im¬†walking in she goes “hurry, Mommy’s coming in” and then “the look”. I couldnt capture it but I did manage to capture this…

“I didnt do it. I don’t know what you’re talking about” pretty much sums up this picture. Silly girl! But I’ll tell you what, it sure felt great coming in the door from work¬†and within seconds had this little ray of sunshine quickly engulf and surround me with such light and love. I am truly a¬†blessed woman.

Hello from a Winter Wonderland!

Check out that sky above, crazy isn’t it? That was on my way in this morning..around 8ish.

Yeah, we got a total (at least I measured at my house) of 14 inches last night. Holy Snow Batman!!! And of course, I had to come into work. Le Sigh…. Hey, at least they gave us a two hour¬†delay in arriving – which worked out nicely because we had to shovel our cars out of our rather long driveway.¬† Poppa¬†Bear started at 5:00am because he had to leave for work by 6:15 (Not ending up leaving until 6:45). I went back out at 6:45 and finished up at 7:45. Then, I had to get up the Little Bear and get her ready to drop her off at my Dad’s for the day. I made it into work by 8:40. We had up until 10. My boss and three out of us five in the department did not come in today. I’m upset. I rather have taken a snow day myself so I could enjoy it with Little Bear. Ah well, i’ve got tonight. At least the shoveling this morning counts for some weight training today, right? hee-hee!!!

Oh, and did I mention that because of all the commotion this morning I almost forgot to eat my egg brekkie sandwich?! Good thing I had natty peanut butter and bananas handy..I quickly made this to eat on-the-ride-into-work.. (Yeah, I stole the pic from a previous post..ah well, such is life.)

The above brekkie sandwich also was used with the last two slices¬†of my P28¬†bread loaf. I am completely devastated. =( I HAVE.TO.GET.MORE! MUST.GET.MORE. Did I say how sad I am now that i’m¬†out? No, well, I am. You could be a doll and send some my way..quick. I’d love you…like, forever! Just sayin…

Poppa Bear is on this ‘steal-the-laptop-at-night” kick and I haven’t been able to blog the last two nights.¬† Ugh!!!! So, here I am, updating you now on the what’s been happening….

It was a¬† 5k training¬† day last night. Last night was a Week 2, Workout 2 workout. One more and that completes Week 2’s training. I’m doing really well with it too. Saturday’s calling for a five minute¬†increase. It will be interesting to see how I do then. At least i’m progressing along.

My eats were absolutely horrible yesterday and I didnt keep track so nothing to post. I consider it a wash-out..between it snowing (and me always wanting to eat junk when it snows bad) and my Monthly visiting four days early (ugh!)..it was a bad day for nutrition yesterday.¬† Ah well, today is fresh….a new day…

Yeah, speaking of Monthly’s…darn thing came four days early on the day I had my annual visit to the ol OB/GYN. This is the second time this has happened to me. Me no likey! I rescheduled for the 8th of next month tho. yayaya!! Plenty of time before the next one. Let’s see it mess this appointment up. HA! Take that!

Alright ya’ll, i’m¬†at work so I may as well do some (instead of daydreaming and wishing I was with Little Bear at home….or you know, instead of blogging too. ha). Ya’ll have a good day….but before you go…Did you get any snow last night? If so, how much?¬† What is one of your favorite past times when you take¬†a snow day?

That there graphic above pretty much sums up my Monday, folks – or any day really. I mean, what Mom doesn’t have to try to juggle housework, the kid and fit in a workout (somehow!)?

Monday’s are typically a busy day in the office. It was the same ol, same ol’ run of the mill day.  Of course I left my camera at home this morning and so I could not take pictures of my meals today. Not that it matters, I ate the same M1, M2, M3 and M4 that I have for the last few weeks – ok, maybe with a few tweaks. HAHAHA! In case you missed what those meals were…..

M1: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 2T shredded sharp cheddar cheese, 1 slice of P28 bread, 2C coffee, 4T Coffeemate Fat Free Skinny latte creamer

M2: Oikio’s Carmel Yogurt, 1/2 red grapefruit

M3: 6 slices turkey breast, 2T Olive Oil Mayo, Honey Wheat Arnold Thin, 1C Progresso High Fiber Chicken Tuscony soup, Orange

M4: Fit & Active String Cheese,  1/2 cucumber, 1 green pepper,  2T Low Fat Ranch Dressing, 1C coffee, 1 lil coffeemate creamer

M5: 1 egg, 2 egg whites (scrambled eggs), 4 french toast sticks, 4T Light Syrup

M6: 2 packets of Peanut Butter Wafers #UTTER FAIL (they are such a gateway food for me. I should have never went food shopping hungry on Saturday)

H20: 60oz (A work in progress)

Alright, so aside from that small derail at M6 I didnt do too bad. I really gotta work on the water intake tho. i’m not drinking nearly enough. Work in progress right?

The Poppa Bear only works out three days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri). He had to drive to and from Conneticut today for an offsite job repair. Didn’t expect him to workout today but he did and he started late. I, of course, can’t go down to the basement to run on the treadmill (it’s a 5k training run day) with the Little Bear so I had to wait until he was done. Needless to say, by the time he was done and showered it was ten minutes til the Little’s nap time. Guys, I really didn’t think I was going to workout. I wanted to but it felt like everything was against me. After I put the Little to bed, I said “Im just going to do it. No excuses. I’ll feel better..esp. since I ate those Peanut Butter Wafers” and sure enough, at 8:00 I went to the ol’ basement to get in Week 2, Workout 1 of my 5k running program. GO ME!!! I even added in an extra 20 minutes to give me 45 minutes. I only stopped then too (I wanted to get in 60) because I needed a shower and get ready for bed because my toosh has a bedtime of 10pm. So, yeah, with all the odds against me…I DID IT! I’m pretty happy about that…and also still on a killer runner’s high. That session had to be one of the best…isn’t that how it always works? You fight with yourself and fight with yourself and then when you do…WOW!

I also did significantly well with this 5k training run today. Vast improvements indeed. Instead of walking at a 3.4 and running at a 4.4 or 4.6..I was walking a 3.6 and running at a 5.5 all at a 1.5 incline as that is the lowest incline my treadmill will allow (which kinda sucks when your knees act up and really need a flat surface and no incline). Felt so great – especially since i’m only one week in after a month or so long hiatus. yayaya!! Go Me!!!

Whelp, I need to stretch out a bit more as I still feel alil tight. And I need some non-pc time to prepare myself for sleep. I forget where I read it or how it went exactly but it said something along the lines of the light from your pc screen actually keeps you awake. They recommend you shut it down X amount of time before your shut eye..*shrug*  Ya’ll have a great night and i’ll catch ya in the morning. ;o)

Girls Gotta Move

It was just another day yesterday. Nothing out of the ordinary – well, aside from the 40 degree temps we had. You know, because we’ve been in the 20-30’s the last few weeks.
I was pleasantly sore yesterday from Gina’s Winter Shape Up workout the night before. However, I still managed to get my¬† 5k training¬†run in….25 minutes of the run/walk 3/2. I looked to my Club Fusion channel on the ol’ I Heart Radio app on my iTouch for the motivation. I love that channel!!!!ÔĽŅ

I also need to get a new battery for my chest strap on the ol’ Nike Heart Rate Monitor. I need to know what the calorie burns are. It’s driving me nuts without wearing it while I workout. I feel lost. I feel nekkid. (there’s that word again “nekkid”…hmmm.¬†I really cant think of myself nekkid right now. it’s very, very scary)

Speaking of motivation…..Julie¬†over at¬†Peanut Butter Fingers¬†posted an awesome article on her blog about exercise mantras, quotes, etc. Earlier this week, she had asked her readers for some of our favorite ones. She compliled¬†them, along with some of her own and others and walah!! I think you’ll find that the article is quite inspiring. I have no doubts that you’ll be adding a few of them to your journals, notebooks or whatever you use to utilize them. Ha! I know i’ve¬†got a few that i’ve written down. So inspiring. Thanks Julie!!!

M3: 1/2 cucumber, 1/2 green pepper, 12 baby carrots, 2T Low Fat Ranch Dressing, 6 slices turkey breast, 2T Olive Oil Mayo, 2 slices tomatoe, Honey Wheat Arnold Thin, 1C Progresso High Fiber Creamy Tomatoe Basil soup

M4: Fit & Active String Cheese, Orange, 1C cranberry pomegranate green tea

M5: 4oz¬†pork chop, 4 apple slices, 2C¬†Healthy Colors Veggy¬†Medley, 2T¬†Natty PB (Hey! How’d that get in there?)

M6: 1 Blue Bonnet Serona

H20: 60oz (A work in progress)

Looks like the good ol’ Northeast is getting some more snow (or a Wintery¬†mix) sometime over night tonight. I could wake up to anywhere between two to four inches or only get an inch or that icey¬†mess. Ugh! I dont¬†mind snow but I really dislike that wintery mix crap! I think I might have to keep tabs on that today as I may have to call Dad and see if he can watch the Little Bear. I much rather drive her a few blocks than have our dear Aunt Debbie drive quite a few miles to our house, ya know?

Have you gotten the small Winter storm that is coasting through the last few days? You know, the one that’s coming my way….
