Just before the holiday’s we celebrated a birthday in our lil cave. Little Bear turned three just before Christmas.  A child’s birthday so close to Christmas kind of well, sucks, but really if anyone were to have a Christmas (or close to) baby it would be me..also known as Little Miss Christmas to friends and family because I love it that much.

We celebrated her birthday a week before Christmas and she couldn’t have been happier. I must say that this birthday was pretty darn awesome!!! She is so much fun and really took it all in and just enjoyed being surrounded by family that loved her.  She’s fortunate enough to have a large immediate family..a total of 34 people. Needless to say, any small party will include that many at least. A little difficult for a Winter birthday but we’ve managed to pull it off ever year so far.

Once again, I took made her cake and I must admit, each year it gets better and better. This is certainly the best one yet (and even took much longer too! A two day process with the decorating taking up about three to four hours..yikes!) and I haven’t even taken any Wilton Cake Decorating courses yet.

Little Bear wanted a Dora party but those doll pans are just so small!!! I tried to stencil her on a sheet cake but truth be told, I couldnt get the flesh color on her to go well at all. I even tried taking a Dora Doll and using that as the doll cake. All with no luck! What we improvised with was the below (in her FAVORITE color..BLUE!) and Dora decorations. It turned out GREAT and she was THRILLED (and that’s an understatment!)

There were lots of presents, lots of laughs and lots of cake and ice cream consumed.

Easter Celebrations started early for us. We had more of an Easter Weekend Celebration than an Easter Day Celebration. It all started on Friday.

After work Friday, I came home and we had a visit from Little Bear’s Great Aunt Debbie.  She had a special basket just for her.  Of course the Little Bear dived into it too quickly and I couldn’t take a snapshot before she attacked it. The aftermath of said basket was this…..

Photobucket

Aunt Debbie filled the basket with a ton of water squirting toys, a pretty floral sundress, a blue marshmellow peep and a few packs of the Welch’s Fruit Snacks that she loves.

Little Bear and I had at least two hours of paper filling throwing fun after the festivities were over. Oh the fun that was had and the mess that was made. LOL! I’m just glad it was the paper filling and not that plastic stuff. After the clean up we baked cupcakes together and called it a night.

Saturday we spent the day decorating the cupcakes with yellow icing and Easter/Spring Sprinkles. Oh did she enjoy that!!!! But certainly not as much as the Easter Egg Dying fun that was to be had next.  Little Bear just LOVES to dye the eggs. Last year, she only dyed a dozen. This year she dyed two dozen. Too bad it did not last very long. She was so excited that she went through them all in about 10 minutes or less. Crazy right?

Yes, my friends, there is a lot of blue and green in there. Little Bear was given tons of colors to chose from. We had Yellow, Blue, Green, Dusty Rose, Violet and Teal. For some reason this year’s purple and pink didnt come out very well – not that it would have mattered. Little Bear’s favorite color is Blue right now and she associates the dark colors with Blue too so it was only natural for us to have the eggs be mostly that.

I do believe Saturday was exceptionally fun for Little Bear and I’m glad she had such a fun-filled and exciting day. I know Saturday night this Momma Bear was POOPED!!! I think I fell asleep as soon as we put her to bed – 8:30 because I woke up at 10-something and realized I still had to fill the Easter Eggs and get her basket together. Yikes!

Easter Sunday, Little Bear awoke to a purple (her other favorite color) easter egg in the middle of her bedroom floor. “Mommy, what’s that?” she said. To which I responded “The Easter Bunny must have come last night. Let’s go see.” We went to brush our teeth and “Oh My! He must have came, look there’s an egg on your stool.” Oh the excitment was building for this little one.  She found one more on the landing of our steps and then when we got down the steps she saw all the eggs throughout the family room and living room. (We had our hunt indoors because it was way too cold outside). She loved that she never knew what she would find in the eggs — stickers, jelly beans or money!

Little Bear was so excited that she didn’t even realize the Easter Bunny visited the kitchen and put a special basket for her on the table. Silly Little Bear.

Photobucket
Daddy and I pointed her to the direction of her Easter Basket and all the more fun began! The Easter Bunny fully intended not to give too much candy but she couldn’t resist. Needless to say, the Little Bear was extremely estatic.

Photobucket
After all the sugar and excitment wore off from the Easter Morning Madness we were soon off to Grandmom and Pop-Pop’s house where Little Bear was going to have yet another Easter Egg Hunt and Basket.

After Little Bear’s egg hunt and basket opening (she also was given that outside picnic table as an Easter gift also) the entire family sat down to a nice Easter Feast….yummy ham, baked potatoes and all the fixings. All and all we had one fabulous Easter Weekend and I know the Little Bear enjoyed it ten fold.
Hope all of you had an awesome Easter weekend!!!

I’m a little late in posting this but it’s to be expected when you have a child’s birthday so close to Christmas.

Little Bear’s birthday is on the 20th of December. Pappa Bear had to travel on the road for an assignment and probably wouldnt be back in time to celebrate. What we did to fix that was we had her birthday party on the 12th. It was very nice. Even with immediate family we had 22 people. Little Bear is soooo blessed to have so many surrounding her with love.

Here’s some of the fabulous times we had during her special day…….

….and yes, I made the cake all by myself. Far better than last year’s. Here’s hoping next year’s will be an even bigger improvment on this year’s.

Thank you for choosing us to be the ones to guide and teach you about life. I cannot wait to see what the future brings. We love you so very, very much.

It’s always so much fun to see what other’s ask Santa for Christmas. I thought it would be a good idea to post some of what I would like Santa to bring me as well as hear what is on your list.

Photobucket

new calendar– I am writing activities on post it notes for next year and can’t wait to get a fresh new one to fill with our activities. This is my favorite calendar of all after having it this past year thanks to a recommendation from a previous blogger. It is also one of my most used items in our house. It is the perfect size to tuck in my purse and has pockets for business cards and random receipts. It is also durable and has survived all sorts of spills and messes because of the waterproof cover. ($14.95)

Photobucket

new purse– I used to love my Jen Groover Butler Bag. It has dividers in it which makes it perfect to find things and keep them organized. It also has two open slots (one on each side) for other misc. items like a day planner, bills, checkbook, etc. It was convenient for awhile until recently. Now, I just can’t stand the thing! Every time I go to bend over to get something or fix Little Bear’s coat, etc. when I go to go into my purse all the stuff in the dividers fell out and alas then im stuck putting them all back. It’s just become more of a hassle than a convenience. This purse is oversized and although some might find that crazy I find it fabulous! It is the perfect size for a “Mommy Purse” it can easily hold my stuff and Little Bear’s with room to spare. I fell in love with this the minute I saw it at Tar-jeh a few weeks ago. I had to put it on my list. ($29.99)

Photobucket

new slippers– I already own a pair of these in tan. They are the most comfortable slippers ever and are basically the Ugg look-alike/twin of the Tar-jeh world. After wearing them for abit I realized I have to have one pair in Black and maybe even a pair in Grey. ($11.88)

Photobucket

Super Mario Bros for the Wii– When I was offered my new employment here DH and I celebrated. We went out and got the Wii along with the Wii Fit, a ton of accessories and quite a few games. Yes, Dh can spoil me rotten! When Super Mario Bros came out for the Wii…well, I just had to ask for it. You see, I cannot stop playing Super Mario Kart…sooo much fun. Back in the day, I was also never really big into Nintendo or the likes but I could play me some Super Mario Bros for hourrrrrrrrrrsssss. When I saw this came out…I was soooo giddy….it immediately went on my list. ($59.99)

Photobucket

Deep 12″ Skillet or Fry Pan – I love, love, love my current skillet. I love it so much that i’ve worn it plum out within the last four years. I also found that it isnt nearly as deep enough as I need for a good portion of Dh’s favorite meals. Alas, I ask Santa for either a much deeper 12″ skillet or Frying Pan (preferrably with lid). The one linked here and pictured above is not the one I am asking for but I needed a link and picture for this post so….. (Roughly $19.99)

Photobucket

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince DVD – I’m a huge, huge, huge Harry Potter fan. Own every movie thus far and have seen each one at least six times. But would you believe I have yet to read the books?!?! Crazy, right? I’ll get around to them eventually. I am just so glad it came out before the holidays and could add it to my list to ask Santa. I’ve been waiting to see this since it came out in the movie theaters. Dh and I have a really good entertainment set up at home and it would be a waste of money to go to the theaters when we can watch it better at home when it comes out onto dvd. ($19.99)

What made your Christmas List this year???

From our house to your’s…we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. May this holiday stuff you to the gills, surround you with friends and family and above all remind us what we are thankful for this past year and for the year to follow.

As for us, there will be watching of the Macy’s Day Parade and of course we’ll be traveling to my in-laws place where we will feast on such items that include turkey, candied sweet potatoes, mashed cauliflower, twice baked potatoes, green beans, biscuits, cranberry sauce and desserts a plenty. Mmmmm…I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.

Enjoy eatting your birds and travel safe on the roads.

Finally got around to uploading the Halloween pictures. Here is our darling daughter on her First Halloween. :0) (Images are clickable to enlarge)

Here she is with her Pop-Pop. Pop-Pop is her buddy. She adores him and he adores her. It’s really rather cute to watch the two of them together. Funny thing about that glow stick. We brought it out to originally give to MIL and FIL for their pumpkin on the porch. We got it to glow and she immediately fell in love with it. She and it were attached all night. Needless to say, MIL & FIL never did get that glow stick. haha!

Here she is going to town on the fun size Mounds bars. Currently, she only has two bottom front teeth. We swore she’d break the seal the way she was chomping down on them but nope. Not even a puncture. They were however entirely too mushed for Mommy or Daddy to snack on after she retired to bed. POOTERS!

All and all, we had a really great First Halloween. Dh and I were totally tuckered out – just like our dear little angel by the end of the night. Thanks for giving us such a wonderful memory, BooBoo-Bear. Mommy and Daddy love you.

Remember that it is Veteran’s Day and always remember the people who have served in the armed forces. Without them, we would not enjoy the freedom that we have!

I have a few members of my family who i’d like to thank in addition to the men and women, past and present, that have/are serving for our country. Thank you Don for serving in the wars. Thank you Tommy and Jason for serving our country. It’s people like all of you who are making our country one to be proud to live in. God Bless You All!
